Quiet Forest Exhibition - Forest Cafe - 6th of August 2013
Several years ago I designed a poster to promote a series of gigs to save the Forest Cafe in Edinburgh. The cafe has now moved to a new home at 141 Laurieston Place in Edinburgh. On the 6th of August the excellent words and performance group Inky Fingers are having an exhibition of installation Poetry at the new Forest Cafe. I will have some artwork in the exhibition - A poem comic collection called Bad Teenage Poetry. I will post up some images of this later.
The exhibition is called Quiet Forest and info can be found here.

Railway Children Poster Design - Gig in Edinburgh
I've just completed a poster for a gig in Edinburgh. The
poster was done for a charity called the Railway Children - a charity who help
children in the UK and abroad.
I decided to volunteer for the organisation several
months ago and help out with my artwork and design skills. The poster is below and the first time I've done a gig poster in years. Sunday, 23 December 2012
Regime – A Short Film Poem about the Protest Movement in Canada.
Recently I completed a short course at the Edinburgh College
of Art called – Video For Artists. I completed a short 3-minute film of video a
shot during my time in Canada. The film will be uploaded to my Vimeo and
Youtube profiles soon, but below is the DVD case I created and some information
on ‘Regime’ the film I made.
PREMISE: A Short Film Poem about the Protest Movement
in Canada.
SYNOPSIS: In the Spring of 2012 I backpacked around
Canada. I took many photographs and shot some video footage on a digital SLR
camera, a compact camera and my mobile phone.
During this time I visited many cities and observed how the
local population undertook protests and activism towards local issues. These
issues included students protesting against tuition fees in Montreal and Quebec
City, Quebecian separatists in French Canada, Pro-life and Pro-choice
protesters in Ottawa and anti-capitalists in Toronto.
With REGIME I present a short documentary based on
the poetry film movement. Other than focussing on a narrative I present a film
that looks at imagery and non-sequitor video to present the protests I
witnessed. Focussing on banners and text, along with still images, REGIME
tackles the theme of power, activism and collective passion as the people of
Canada stand up for the issues that they believe in.

Developing Illustration
I’ve pretty much been on holiday for the past week or so. I’ve been to see a few things at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and I done a Summer School class at the Edinburgh College of Art – Developing Illustration.
I undertook a project where I drew 6 images inspired by a Poem – The Fog by FR McCreary. I’ll post up the images later. The weeks was excellent, where most of the time was spent trying new techniques and experimenting to bring out the story of the poem.
Here is one of the images I created.
