StoryBox - Discardboard Exhibiton

Currently I am in a special Exhibition involving cardboard. The exhibition is called Discardboard and it is taking place at the Forest Centre Plus art space in Edinburgh. In total 40 artists are exhibiting work and I am presenting Story Box - a comic book made out of cardboard.

Story Box is an experiment in taking comic books away from the page and the digital and presenting them as a physical object. Cardboard seemed like the perfect medium to do this. It is customisable, durable and cheap.

 

I developed a 4 page story that could be read in any order. The content of the story reflected the experimental nature of the Story Box comic book. The story involved a young boy who could not communicate. 

The exhibition will be held on 17 - 26 January at Forest Centre Plus, 38 Castle Terrace, Edinburgh, EH3 9SJ.
 

Quiet Forest Exhibition - Forest Cafe - 6th of August 2013

Several years ago I designed a poster to promote a series of gigs to save the Forest Cafe in Edinburgh. The cafe has now moved to a new home at 141 Laurieston Place in Edinburgh. On the 6th of August the excellent words and performance group Inky Fingers are having an exhibition of installation Poetry at the new Forest Cafe. I will have some artwork in the exhibition - A poem comic collection called Bad Teenage Poetry. I will post up some images of this later.

Paper Girl Estonia Exhibiton

The Exhibition was on the 25th of April in Tartu and judging by the photographs it looks like it was pretty cool.

I took part in Papergirl Dublin 2012 and it's great to be part of the event in 2013.

Another page from my Memoir Project Submission. Clown Noses. This is one of my first attempts at concrete poetry. Just thought I'd try something new. I'm not too sure that this page is quite representative of the book as a whole or if it is even a memoir, but I think it is quite an interesting image that makes use of words and imagery.

The Memoir Project is run by the Arhouse co-op in Brooklyn New York, where they have asked 500 writers and artists to complete a 32 page booklet and turn it into a Memoir. This is from the same organisation who run The Sketchbook Project, where I created my book - 'Fashion Design For Monsters'. My Memoir is called 'Clown Noses' and is a series of poems and pictures, making use of concrete poetry and imagery to act as a Memoir. The Book will go on tour in various cities in North America. More on this later, but below is an image from my book. I won’t be posting up all the pages, just a selection.

The Leaves - Postcard from 6*4 Exhibition in Dundee

Recently I had an exhibition in Dundee.This was of a postcard that I created. Now that the exhibition is well and truly over I thought I'd post up the image. It is a short illustrated poem called Leaves.
